Conor Benn will aim to keep his momentum going tonight when he takes on veteran Chris Algieri at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool. Chief support is provided by Irish superstar Katie Taylor, who will defend her hoard of world title belts against Firuza Sharipova.
Benn has only been out of the ring for three months after a unanimous decision victory over Adrian Granados back in September.
The Greenwich-born welterweight had stirred up a fair amount of excitement before that with a first-round TKO over Samuel Vargas, who himself had faced the likes of Danny Garcia and Errol Spence Jr.
After a short time out, Benn is ready to take to the ring again tonight against 37-year-old Chris Algieri, where the Englishman’s WBA Continental welterweight title will be on the line.
The American has three losses on his record, although with Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan and Spece Jr. the only trio to claim victory, a win would leave Benn in esteemed company.
Algieri has only fought once since 2019, however, so Benn, as the more active fighter, should feel confident about extending his 19-0 record in Liverpool.
Also fighting is undisputed world lightweight champion Taylor, who takes on Firuza Sharipova on the undercard.
The 27-year-old, from Kazakhstan, has one blemish on her record, although that came in her very first fight in 2016.
Since then, she has strung together 14 consecutive victories.
