Deontay Wilder makes u-turn over sacking trainer after Tyson Fury defeat

Deontay Wilder has made a dramatic u-turn on his decision to sack trainer Mark Breland following his defeat to Tyson Fury .

Wilder said after his the seventh-round knockout he would part ways with his trainer after being unhappy that Breland threw the towel in to end the fight.

But Breland was widely commended for the act which some thought saved Wilder from potentially serious injury given the dominance Fury had over him.

And now Wilder has appeared to confirm Breland will remain in his corner.

"I'm a warrior," said the American. "I feel the same way I felt on fight night. If I go out, I want to go out on my shield. I understand that my corner has my best interest at heart. Mark Breland is still a part of team Wilder.

"Our team looks forward to the rematch."

Wilder looks set to trigger the rematch clause which will see a trilogy fight between the pair for the WBC heavyweight title.

"I just want to let you know that I am here," Wilder said in a video message to his fans. "Your king is here and we ain't going nowhere, for the war has just begun.

"I will rise again. I am strong. I am a king – you can't take my pride. I am a warrior.

"I am a king that will never give up. I am a king that will fight to the death.

"And if anyone don't understand that, don't understand what it is to go to war, don't understand what it is to fight."

The winner of the third fight would then be in line to face Anthony Joshua in a unification bout, should AJ come through a likely showdown with Kubrat Pulev for the Brit's IBF, WBA and WBO belts.
