Martin Brundle interviews ex-world’s hottest athlete during Abu Dhabi gridwalk

Martin Brundle quite literally saved the best till last during his final gridwalk of the F1 season by interviewing the former world’s hottest athlete.

Brundle rubbed shoulders with A-listers from the world of sport and entertainment for the last time this year ahead of the final F1 race of the year in Abu Dhabi.

After talking to Chris Hemsworth among others and getting into an angry confrontation with a busy security guard. Brundle was able to grab a few words with former Wimbledon and tennis number one Maria Sharapova who won the award of ‘world’s hottest athlete’ four times in a row – the first as a 17-year-old almost two decades ago.

Sharapova, now 36, called time on her glittering tennis career in 2020 after winning all four Grand Slam tournaments, she now spends her time working with brands and attending events such as the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.

The Russian is still turning heads to date with her 4.6million followers on Instagram still treated to pics of her dressed up for nights out and busy events, as well as workout and holiday pics as she enjoys her retirement from the sporting world.

Sharapova was previously the hottest athlete in the world according to Maxim up to 2006, she was also named among the 50 most beautiful celebrities in the world by People in 2005. But it’s not just her looks and tennis ability that has her high up on multiple lists, with Forbes estimating her net worth at $180million – including £30m from her success on the court.

Brundle’s gridwalk also saw him speak to Manchester City’s injured star Kevin De Bruyne ahead of the final race of the year, in which three-time world champion Max Verstappen took pole for Constructors’ champions Red Bull.
