Arsenal fans have been left speculating over what Oleksandr Zinchenko said to Declan Rice in an embrace after England’s win against Ukraine on Sunday. Rice is reportedly one of Mikel Arteta’s prime summer transfer targets ahead of his widely-expected West Ham United exit.
England beat Ukraine 2-0 at Wembley Stadium, courtesy of goals from Harry Kane and Zinchenko’s Arsenal team-mate Bukayo Saka.
But what cameras caught after full-time seemed to grip plenty of Arsenal fans’ attention more than Saka’s outstanding performance.
As Zinchenko shook hands with Rice at full-time, the Gunners left-back was seen saying something as if it were a question.
And Rice’s response seemed uncertain before the pair went their separate ways ahead of the return of club football next weekend.
Many fans who fancy themselves as lip-readers believe the West Ham captain issued a reserved response to Zinchenko asking whether he was joining Arsenal.

@GoonerDom0811 tweeted: “Looked like Rice said something like, ‘we’ll see.'”
@Gunners14title wrote: “Rice was like, ‘nah man, we aren’t discussing this here.”
@Ib_yuguda00 said: “He said, ‘you coming?'” And @MLArsenal added: “He said, ‘you joining me?'”
Some others weren’t convinced, arguing that Zinchenko asked the 24-year-old to swap shirts.
@rrrrison posted: “They’re talking about swapping shirts, and he said in the tunnel.”
An invested @kieronjprice76 added: “We need a camera shot from the other side now.”

Earlier this month, Sky Sports issued an update on Arsenal’s interest in a move for Rice this summer.
Reporter Dharmesh Sheth claimed that the Hammers star leaving for an inter-London switch to Arsenal is becoming a ‘realistic’ prospect as he eyes the next step in his career.
“They [Arsenal] showed that they wanted to strengthen in that area during January when they went in for Moises Caicedo and went in strongly for him,” Sheth explained.
“Of course, they didn’t manage to get him, but Declan Rice now appears to be the primary target.
“The noises we’re hearing is that could be a very realistic one to do for Arsenal in the summer.”
