Arsenal are understood to be the frontrunners to sign prolific Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic if he leaves Italy this January, according to reports. The hotshot Serb, who has already netted 16 goals in Serie A this season, is currently one of the most coveted players in world football due to his scintillating form in front of goal.
Fiorentina are currently seeking in excess of £65million to agree to a January sale.
That is of course not cheap – particularly during the winter window – but with Vlahovic’s contract (18 months left) slowly trickling down, the Serie A club do need to think wisely.
Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City, Juventus, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are all said to be in the running for the 21-year-old.
Vlahovic has rejected the chance to become the highest-paid player in Fiorentina’s history in favour of an exit.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal are best-positioned to win the race – providing Vlahovic leaves Fiorentina this month.
That’s because the Gunners have the money as to spend as well as Lucas Torreira – who has impressed on loan in Florence.
However, while Arsenal are head over heels for the striker it appears the feeling is not mutual with Vlahovic not believed to be keen on moving to The Emirates.
It’s believed his reps have been ignoring calls from the Gunners as they look to discuss a potential transfer.

Instead, it’s claimed Vlahovic would prefer a move to the likes of Juventus or Barcelona as he feels that is the right step for his career.
Arsenal do have some alternatives in mind though as they prepare for disappointment.
The same report claims Alexander Isak and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are on the Gunners’ radar.
Mikel Arteta and Edu are in agreement that a striker is now of priority due to the current situation in attack.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang appears unlikely to ever play for Arsenal again after he was stripped of the captaincy.
Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in the summer.
Young forward Folarin Balogun is set to be loaned to Middlesbrough to get some regular playing time.
Arsenal are prepared to wait until the summer to go big on a striker but for now, they will continue to monitor Vlahovic as they weigh up a January swoop.
