Arsenal ‘prioritise’ White, Edu ‘in contact’ with over Neves and Willock update

Arsenal lost their first pre-season game 2-1 against Hibernian on Tuesday to leave fans in little doubt that new signings are an absolute must before the start of the season.

A goal in either half from Martin Boyle and Daniel MacKay gave the home side the win at Easter Road, with Emile Smith-Rowe on the scoresheet for the visitors.

With less than one month to go until their Premier League opener against Brentford, the Gunners still have plenty of work to do both on and off the field.

Daily Star Sport have news of three players who are firmly on Mikel Arteta's radar.

Ben White priority

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion centre-half Ben White throughout the transfer window.

And according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners now see him as a 'priority' following William Saliba's loan to Marseille.

Posting on Twitter, Romano said: "Paperworks signed for William Saliba to OM from Arsenal on loan until June 2022, done and confirmed.

"Arsenal priority now will be working to complete Ben White deal with Brighton after personal terms agreed."

Neves 'contact'

Who do you think Arsenal should sign this summer? Let us know in the comments section.

One name who is starting to crop up more consistently in relation to a move to Arsenal is Wolves star Ruben Neves.

The Sun reports that his agent, Jorge Mendes, is in 'constant contact' with Gunners technical director Edu over a switch.

It is believed that Mendes wants to get a deal over the line as soon as possible, but his client's £35million price-tag is proving a sticking point.

Willock update

Midfielder Joe Willock excelled on-loan at Newcastle towards the back end of last season.

The 21-year-old scored in seven games in a row following his temporary switch from the Emirates, helping the Magpies avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Now he could be set for a return to the Toon, with Arsenal and Newcastle in talks over a deal that would see Willock rejoin Steve Bruce's side on a season-long loan.
