Arsenal are eyeing up potential attacking reinforcements for the 2023-24 campaign, and may reignite their interest in a striker once targeted by Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners led the way in the title race for the vast majority of the season, but their unlikely bid to topple Manchester City came unstuck in the run-in.

The north London club did not struggle for goals across the team, with several players reaching double figures, but their top scorers were Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard, who both racked up just 15 goals.

With Gabriel Jesus missing several months of the season with a knee injury, Mikel Arteta now appears keen to bolster his options through the middle ahead of another suspected tilt at the top-flight crown.

And it would appear that they are keen to explore a deal for Torino forward Antonio Sanabria.

Antonio Sanabria is reportedly of interest to Arsenal after just 12 goals this season in Serie A

The Paraguayan striker was previously of interest to legendary Gunners boss Arsene Wenger

Sanabria would be unlikely to displace Gabriel Jesus in the starting side and would likely only provide back-up to the Brazilian

The Paraguayan forward is thought to be available for around £21.6million – a relatively cut-price option for a club of the Gunners’ calibre.

Sanabria was previously of interest to Invincibles mastermind Wenger as far back as 2013 when the now 27-year-old was still at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy in the same age group as Adama Traore.

The Gunners’ interest was then reportedly rekindled in 2015 when the Paraguayan had moved to Roma.

But now Italian outlet La Repubblica are reporting that he has once more cropped up on Arsenal’s radar ahead of this summer’s window, with the Premier League side ready to discuss a £21.6m move.

However, they may face competition from Italian champions Napoli and Champions League semi-finalists AC Milan, who are both thought to be keen on a move for the striker.

Sanabria is far from the prolific, out-and-out goal scorer that will get them 20 goals a season.

The Paraguayan has 12 goals for the current Serie A season – his highest ever return – and just three assists.

For comparison, Jesus has managed 10 goals and six assists despite missing 12 games of the current campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side have not struggled for goals but those strikes have come from several players, rather than one prolific striker

However, with Sanabria now hitting his prime after turning 27, Spanish boss Arteta may feel that the player is ready to push on to the next step and increase his attacking output.

Arsenal will also be competing in the Champions League next season, and will want greater depth in a squad that is relatively thin when compared to their nearest rivals City, Manchester United and Liverpool.

The Gunners had also be linked with a move for Dusan Vlahovic, who has struggled for form for Juventus this season with just 14 goals in 42 games.

Yet the Serie A giants were quick to put paid to any talks of a potential departure for the Serbian, with chief football officer Franceso Calvo issuing a hands off warning.
