Chelsea target Kai Havertz has made his mind up over his next move and confirmation of his anticipated transfer could come as early as next week, according to Bayer Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz.
Frank Lampard has already commenced his summer spending spree by concluding deals for Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech but he is far from finished.
Leverkusen want close to £90million for their attacking midfielder and are insistent that the jewel in their crown won’t be allowed to leave before their Europa League campaign, which is set to resume imminently, is over.
The Bundesliga side face Glasgow Rangers next week holding a 3-1 advantage from the first leg of their last 16 tie and are strong favourites to progress to the quarter finals.
Despite the near constant speculation, Bosz has been impressed with the maturity Havertz has displayed in recent weeks and claims his future could be resolved any day now.
He told Deutschen Presse-Agentur: ‘I talk to Kai a lot and try to feel what all this does to him. For example, these daily rumours about transfers.
‘I keep finding that Kai is handling all of this very well. I don’t think he will stop playing at 29 [like Andre Schurrle].
‘Yes, I know what he wants to do, but of course I’m not going to give it away, it’s up to him.’
Asked when a decision will be made, Bosz added: ‘I couldn’t say. Perhaps the crucial call will come today, maybe next week, maybe not at all.’
‘You never know [if Havertz will become world-class player like Messi or Ronaldo]. But in Germany he is treated as if he was already one.
‘That is why I try to do something about it when the headlines are always about Kai. We have a lot of great players in the squad.’
