Bloke’s 6-0 bet on 60th birthday wins – after winning 5-0 bet 10 years earlier

One punter was left with plenty to celebrate on his 60th birthday after backing his beloved Swindon Town to beat Crawley Town 6-0 on Saturday (August 27).

And the Robins came through for their thrilled supporter as Michael Flynn’s side hammered Crawley 6-0 to continue their goal-laden start to the League Two season – scoring 15 goals in four games after drawing 5-5 against Wrexham last time out.

Dan Kemp opened the scoring for Swindon just after the half hour mark before Jake Young netted four times after half time before Tyrese Shade sealed the win and the 200/1 bet with a goal in the 99th minute – winning £4000 from his £20 stake.

And the story takes a further turn after he had previously put a similar 100/1 bet on Swindon vs Crewe Alexandra in 2013.

On his 50th birthday, the punter placed a 5-0 bet and incredibly a hat-trick from former Tottenham midfielder and interim manager Ryan Mason inspired Swindon to a 5-0 victory.

Footballing bad boy Nile Ranger and Massimo Luongo also scored to land the £1000 winnings from his £10 stake.

The post on Twitter was made by the man’s son Chris, who received a comment from a Crewe fan who was at the game, saying: “If memory serves, our (Crewe) keeper saved a stoppage time penalty in the 5-0 win…”

And given the bet on the line, Chris replied: “Yes we were only ones in the ground cheering when Ryan Mason missed it.”

As if the story couldn’t be more jaw-dropping, Swindon beat Notts County 4-0 at home on the same day in 2003, when Chris’s dad would’ve been celebrating his 40th birthday, but there was seemingly no bet placed that time.

And for those also wanting to cash in on the father and son luck, Chris added: “Already said we'll have to stake £70 for his 70th!”
