Chelsea may not be done in scouring the transfer market for the best emerging talent around the world after reports suggested the Premier League side are lining up a move for FC Copenhagen sensation Roony Bardghji. The Blues have spashed over £150m to acquire the stars of tomorrow under Todd Boehly and they could be set to accelerate their spending with a move for Bardghji, one of Europe’s most promising talents who is already making an impression in the Champions League.
The 17-year-old came on as a substitute against Manchester United on Wednesday night to make only his second appearance in the competition this season. But the highly-rated winger made an immediate impression on a night he is unlikely to forget for some time.
With 87 minutes on the clock and the score tied at 3-3, Bardghji popped up at the far post and lashed home a well-struck effort on the bounce to beat Andre Onana. It was enough to snatch all three points for the Danish outfit, condemning Erik ten Hag’s side to defeat at Parken and keeping their own hopes of qualifying alive.
According to Danish magazine Tipsbladet, Chelsea ‘have been crazy’ about the winger, who is predominantly left-footed but enjoys playing from the right flank. It is understood they are considering making an offer for the teenager to steal a march on other top European clubs, with Copenhagen likely to sell if an irresistible offer is submitted for their new gem.

The west London club had already been tracking Bardghji prior to his superb cameo in the Danish capital. And his late heroics against Premier League opposition are only likely to strengthen their interest in the attacking midfielder.
The report adds that he could be available for £11.6million (100m Swedish kroner) as Bardghji is only under contract until December 2024, having penned his first contract with the club in January this year. It’s a fee that would put him in a similar bracket to other youngsters acquired by Chelsea such as Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington and David Datro Fofana.
Bardghji may well prove to be the next potential star to emerge from Scandinavia after an impressive run of scoring in the Superliga this season. He has already bagged seven goals from just 14 appearances for his club and boasts the third-highest tally of any player in the Danish top-flight.

Having made his debut for the club just six days after his 16th birthday back in November 2021, there are high hopes for Bardghji at club and international level. The Kuwaiti-born starlet represents Sweden Under-21s and is already being earmarked for a senior call-up.
His name ‘Roony’ rings eerily similar to Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney, who also announced himself on the world stage in the Champions League by scoring a hat-trick. Chelsea missed out on the Englishman back in 2004 when he decided to head to Old Trafford, and they could be snubbed again by his namesake if Real Madrid enter the running.
In a recent interview, the youngster revealed his desire to join the La Liga giants in his career and has designs on emulating the likes of Lionel Messi in becoming the best footballer in the world.
“My goal is to become the best footballer in the world,” he told Aftonbladet in last year. “I’ve had that dream since I was a kid and nothing can stop me except myself… I want to end up in Real Madrid. I want to play there for many years.”
