Chelsea have reportedly made their mind up on a cheaper alternative to Erling Haaland this summer with Roman Abramovich ready to stump up the cash to make an offer. Haaland sits at the top of all of Europe’s elite teams’ transfer shortlist this summer.
The Norway international has established himself as one of the world’s best forwards since joining Borussia Dortmund little over a year ago.
The Bundesliga side know that Haaland could well leave for a cut-price in 2022 due to his £64million release clause.
And those clubs interested in signing him would have likely preferred to wait for that buyout fee in a year’s time.
But due to the mass interest in Haaland ahead of this summer’s transfer window, Dortmund can demand what they want which is reportedly close to £150m.

That seemingly hasn’t put off the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United from making their interest clear.
Mino Raiola and Alf-Inge Haaland were spotted in Spain last week to hold talks with Barcelona and Real and will reportedly stop off in England later this month as well.
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has given mixed messages in the media about Haaland’s possible departure – stating the striker is not for sale while also admitting they would consider an “exceptional offer”.
For Chelsea, they proved last year that they have the financial power to cope with the results of the coronavirus pandemic.
Clubs have been forced to tighten their budgets over the past 12 months with COVID-19 wreaking havoc on their finances with no fans in stadiums and other aspects.
But the Blues are still making contingency plans should Haaland decide to move elsewhere.
And, according to Calciomercato, Abramovich would like to see Lukaku return to Stamford Bridge from Inter Milan.
Lukaku permanently left Chelsea in 2014 having failed to convince Jose Mourinho, who later managed him at Manchester United.
But the Belgium international has revived his career in Italy with an impressive 60 goals in just 86 games over the past two seasons.
Inter’s owners, Suning, are in financial crisis though with reports suggesting they could cash in on their prized assets this summer.
And it is claimed that Abramovich is ready to offer at least £86m to bring Lukaku back to the Premier League.
Barcelona are also said to be interested in signing the forward, but the report states the La Liga outfit won’t be able to compete financially.
