Child asks Haaland to sign rival shirt – but Man City star refuses to play ball

Erling Haaland refused to sign a kid's football shirt when he returned to his hometown club, Byrne FK, in Norway – and for good reason.

Premier League hitman Haaland recently made the trip back to his homeland to give back to his first club, where he was signing autographs for a group of youngsters.

However, one young fan approached the big Norwegian and asked him to sign his shirt – a Liverpool jersey with Alisson's name on the back. And Haaland (politely) refused.

The smiling Manchester City star joked: "I can't sign a Liverpool shirt, I'm sorry! Bring a City shirt next time, and I'll give you an autograph!"

Haaland was back on the scoresheet over the weekend, as City survived a brief scare against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. The City star had missed from the spot in the first half – as fans joked he is indeed human.

However, Haaland bounced back from the miss, and he nodded the ball home after Jack Grealish worked himself some space on the left wing.

After the game, Juanma Lillo, who was on the touchline in the absence of Pep Guardiola, explained: "Generally I thought we played really well today. It was a lot closer to what we wanted than the scoreline suggested.

"In the first half, it was really hard to find that space in behind. The penalty could have changed everything had that gone in. We saw the team were very stable and constantly looking towards goal.

"From the second half, we really raised the rhythm, we were able to win the ball back a lot quicker…We could’ve scored more before the first went in."
