Coronavirus: Diego Costa coughs towards reporters after win over Liverpool

Diego Costa made a mockery of the coronavirus by coughing towards reporters following Atletico Madrid's win against Liverpool .

The striker helped his side progress to the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday as Atletico earned a 4-2 aggregate victory.

After the match Costa was walking through the mixed zone past reporters desperate to get a word with the 31-year-old, before he pretended to cough several times.

Coughing is one of the main symptoms of the coronavirus which has seen a dramatic rise in the number of cases in the city of Madrid.

Atletico and the club's fans were not prohibited from travelling to the UK though, as the fixture at Anfield went ahead.

Costa has a reputation for being a joker, though his actions were in bad taste given the current climate.

Since the match, Atletico's local rivals Real Madrid have been sent home from training after a club basketball player who shares the same facilities was confirmed to have contracted the virus.

All La Liga matches in Spain have now been postponed for a minimum of two weeks.

Real's Champions League fixture at Man City next week has now also been plunged into doubt, having previously been the only remaining last-16 match not to declare it will be played behind closed doors.

Fans were prohibited to attend PSG's second leg tie with Borussia Dortmund, but congregated outside the stadium dressed in mock protective clothing.

PSG's players went outside the stadium after their 3-2 aggregate win to celebrate with fans despite the restrictions.
