Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother has claimed that the Manchester United superstar’s son, Cristiano Jr, is a better football player than he was at the same age. Ronaldo has enjoyed a stunning start to life back at Old Trafford since returning to the club from Juventus on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has already scored four goals from just three appearances after rejoining the Red Devils in a sensational twist to the tale.
He initially looked set to sign for Manchester City before the defending Premier League champions dropped their interest in a move, allowing United to swoop.
Ronaldo’s move back to United also saw Cristiano Jr follow him from Juventus to the Premier League club’s academy setup.
The 11-year-old previously turned out for Real Madrid’s youth teams during his father’s time as the Spanish club’s star man and has been tipped to enjoy a successful career in the game upon reaching adulthood.
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, has claimed that her paternal grandson is showing more potential than the 36-year-old at this early stage in his development.

She also told The ADN de Leao Podcast that her dream would be to see Cristiano Jr play for Sporting if his father does not return to the Portuguese club before the end of his career.
“I’ve already told him [Ronaldo]: ‘Son, before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting,'” explained Aveiro.
“He says: ‘Let’s see.’ But if it can’t be him, then Cristianinho! At his age, he plays better than Ronaldo.
“At that age, Ronaldo didn’t have a coach but today Ronaldo is his son’s teacher. He’s already saying: ‘Dad, when we move to Lisbon I want to play for Sporting.’
“Now he’s starting out at Manchester [United]. Seeing the two of them together at Sporting was my dream, it would be spectacular.
“Today the No 7 jersey [at Sporting] is [Brazilian attacking midfielder] Tabata, but when Ronaldo comes it will be his!”
Ronaldo has already underlined his desire to see Cristiano Jr follow in his footsteps as a professional footballer upon progressing through the youth ranks at United.
However, the Portuguese forward’s close friend and former UFC champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, revealed earlier this year that Ronaldo is concerned over his son’s ability to hit the same heights as himself.
“We chat all the time, texting lots daily, but when we meet in person, we’ve had a discussion on motivation sources recently,” said Khabib in an interview with YouTube channel Krasava.

“He told me he wanted his son to succeed him, but he was worried his son won’t be able to do it since when Cristiano himself was his age, he could only dream about a pair of simple cleats [boots].
“His son has everything. So he’s worried that he will never feel that hunger.
“In fact, people are driven by hunger. One needs motivation, one needs to have a desire to achieve things.
“When you have everything, it’s hard to find a proper source of motivation. When he told me that, I can’t say I was surprised, as things are simple things.
“But I liked it. I understood that he was such a person who would never be satisfied with one, two or three titles.”
