The Norway international, who has scored 76 goals in 74 games for the German club since moving from RB Salzburg in January 2020, has been linked with both Barcelona and Manchester City.

When asked about Haaland’s future at a press conference, Kehl said: ‘The situation is very clear, he has the opportunity to get out [of his contract in the summer].

‘There are certainly a few more reasons why Haaland is in very good hands at Borussia Dortmund and why we as a club can continue to be a very good option for him.

‘We will sit down with Erling and his team in the next few weeks and discuss the situation intensively. It would be good if a decision doesn’t drag on forever.’

Haaland has attracted interest from club around the world. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona have been linked with a big-money move for the Norwegian star.

A report from earlier in the week stated that City would reinvest the £55million gained from the sale of Ferran Torres to Barcelona into their efforts to sign Haaland.

While Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently has announced that he ‘will sign Haaland in the summer’ despite the clubs financial circumstances.

However, it is believed that Dortmund are looking to piece together a club-record financial package in a bid to convince him to stay.

According to reports, the Bundesliga outfit are willing to double their talisman’s annual salary to £13.4m-per-year, which equates to £260,000-per-week. He may also rake in up to £6.7m in bonuses from Puma, Dortmund’s manufacturer.
