Tottenham players Sergio Reguilon, Eric Dier and Oliver Skipp have been praised for their potentially 'life saving' actions during Sunday's game with Newcastle.

The Premier League clash between the two sides was stopped in the 39th minute when it became apparent that someone in the stands required urgent medical treatment.

The situation was brought to the attention of referee Andre Marriner by Spurs defender Reguilon, who gestured towards the East Stand of St. James' Park.

As Marriner suspended the game, Reguilon's team-mate's Dier and Skipp rushed across to the technical area, making a stretcher motion and encouraging a member of staff to go across with a defibrillator.

After consulting with security, Marriner ordered the players to return to the dressing room while the situation was brought under control.

The supporter received treatment in the stands and was later confirmed to be in a stable condition and on their way to hospital.

The fan was given a huge round of applause as they were carried out of the stadium on a stretcher.

Someone else said: "Huge well done to Reguilon, Dier and Skipp for their actions earlier. Very may well have helped save a person's life today."

A third person added: "Such a relief, big ups to Reguilon and Dier for acting so quickly and saving someone’s life, heroes."

Another user chimed in with: "Just saw it now. Scary. Fair play to Reguilon spotted it and probably saved someone's life."

"Andre Mariner, Reguillon, Dier and medical staff. You all just saved someone's life," praised a fifth person.

Newcastle took the lead in the opening two minutes through Callum Wilson.

Tanguy Ndombele equalised 15 minutes later before Harry Kane scored his first Premier League goal of the season to give the visitors the lead before the game was brought to a halt.

Son Heung-min then made it 3-1 in first half injury time.

A Dier own goal gave the home side hope in the closing stages but 3-2 was how it finished.
