Football icon Pele, 80, in hospital for six days after denying fainting reports

Footballing legend Pele has been in hospital for the last six days with an undisclosed health problems – but is not seriously ill.

The former World Cup winner was undergoing a routine examination in Sao Paolo's Albert Einstein Hospital when the issue was detected.

Pele's business manager Joe Fraga said: "Full battery of tests/scans/colonoscopy/blood etc.

“He doesn’t do everything in one day.”

But Pele shared an Instagram message five days ago, writing: “Guys, I didn't faint and I'm in very good health.

"I went for my routine exams, which I had not been able to do before because of the pandemic. Let them know I don't play next Sunday!"
