A footballer has produced one of the worst penalties of all-time during a shootout and cost his team the win in the process.
Dario Benedetto had the chance to win the match for Boca Juniors with his spot-kick as they faced Corinthians in the Copa Libertadores round of 16 on Wednesday. Boca were leading 3-2 after four penalties each, with the Argentine striker having the chance to book his side's place in the quarter-finals.
However, his powerful strike missed the goal completely, flying high and wide into the crowd, handing Corinthians the opportunity to draw level and keep the shootout alive.

The Brazilian giants took full advantage and went on to win the shootout 6-5, dumping out Boca and booking a last eight meeting with compatriots Flamengo.
Fans were quick to poke fun at Benedetto for his penalty miss on social media, with one tweeting: "One of the worst penalties I’ve ever seen."
Another added: "Actually impressive just how awful that pen is… can’t remember the last time I saw the ball go that high from a pen."

A third supporter also wrote: "How do you even do that?" Meanwhile, another commented: "It’s so bad that it’s actually fascinating. I'm impressed at how bad it is."
The shootout miss was not even the first penalty that Benedetto had failed to convert in the match, having struck the post during the first half after sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Had Benedetto, who returned to Boca from Marseille in January, scored that penalty, his side would have progressed in normal time, with the two sides playing out two goalless draws before being separated on penalties.
Corinthians also took the chance to rub salt into Benedetto's wounds after the match by trolling the 32-year-old on social media at full-time.
The club took to Twitter to post a mocked up fan membership card which included Benedetto's name and picture after his unfortunate evening from 12 yards.
