Gabriel Martinelli ‘agrees a new four-and-a-half-year contract at Arsenal’ – as the Brazilian star commits to Mikel Arteta’s flying Gunners until 2027 ahead of their title push
- Gabriel Martinelli has committed to Arsenal after becoming a key player for them
- Brazilian winger has started 26 games in all competitions, netting seven times
- Arsenal could have triggered two-year extension but he has signed a fresh deal
Gabriel Martinelli has reportedly put pen to paper and signed a new four-and-half-year contract at Arsenal.
The 21-year-old star’s current contract was due to expire at the end of next season but the Brazilian is set to stay on at the Emirates.
The Gunners did hold an option to extend Martinelli’s contract by two years, but the winger’s fresh new deal means he will stay until the summer of 2027, The Athletic reports.

He has become one of the first names on the team-sheet for Mikel Arteta’s title challengers
Martinelli has been thriving for the north London club this season, becoming a regular starter and netting seven times so far.
Sportsmail exclusively revealed on October 10 that talks over an improved deal for the attacker following an impressive 12 months for the Gunners were underway, with all parties hopeful of a conclusion.
Those discussions have come to fruition with the Brazilian set to see an increase in his wages from his current £70,000-a-week deal.
Martinelli signed from Brazilian side Ituano for just £6million in 2019, but has since emerged as one of Mikel Arteta’s key men as the Gunners push for their first title in 19 years.
The Brazilian is said to be very happy in London and informed his advisers that it was his priority to stay with Arsenal despite growing interest from rival European clubs.
Martinelli’s club form saw the 21-year-old called up to the Brazil World Cup squad in November
His reputation as one of the brightest young attacking players in world football was strengthened when he was selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad in November, although the five-time winners were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
In total, the winger has scored 25 goals in 110 appearances for the Gunners since making his move to north London.
Arteta will now hope Bukayo Saka will follow in Martinelli’s footsteps and pen a new deal with the England winger out of contract in 2024 – although the Gunners can extend this by a year.
Despite Martinelli reportedly penning a new deal, the Brazilian was rested for Arsenal’s FA Cup fourth round tie with Manchester City on Friday night – with Arteta opting for new signing Leandro Trossard.
It is perhaps testament to Martinelli’s place in Arteta’s first-choice Premier League XI, with the Gunners back in action against Everton next weekend.
