Harry Kane was able to get one up on Erling Haaland after the Bayern Munich star was able to convert from the penalty spot on his home debut.
England and Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer was able to go one better than the Manchester City record-breaker after he opened his Allianz Arena account from the spot.
Kane was on target during Bayern’s 3-1 win against Augsburg on Sunday (August 27), netting his second and the Bavarian’s third in the second half.
All the while, Haaland wasn’t able to score from the spot in City’s hard-fought 2-1 win against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, putting his effort from 12 yards against the post.

A frustrated Haaland eventually broke the deadlock on the hour mark with a towering header at the back post, showing his frustration in his lack of celebration in front of the joyous travelling fans.
Haaland found the net twice on the opening day of the season against Burnley in the 3-0 win, but a rare off day in front of goal saw him unable to get himself on the scoresheet against Newcastle United the following week.

Haaland’s first full season at Dortmund saw him net 27 goals, but he still finished a long way behind Robert Lewandowski’s 41 Bundesliga goals in the 2020/21 season for Bayern Munich.
And given Kane’s record-breaking price tag, there will be expectations that he could surpass Haaland’s records in Germany and instead follow in the Pole’s footsteps.
