Images of Sheffield United captain Chris Basham's horror injury have circulated on social media after he suffered a horrifying leg break against Fulham.
Basham tried to cross the ball when he suffered the sickening injury to his standing leg during the first half of his team's 3-1 defeat at Craven Cottage on Saturday. Images on social media showed the true extent of the injury, as fans of clubs across the country wished the Blades captain a speedy recovery.
The match was stopped for 13 minutes while the 35-year-old was given oxygen and then taken to hospital. Following the game, concerned manager Paul Heckingbottom said: "He's where he needs to be, with the doctors and medics in hospital. No-one wants to see that, ever, and when you're involved in it and it's one of your players it's far, far worse."
