How Arsenal could line up with Bissouma with Gunners desperate for midfielder

Arsenal endured a disappointing campaign under Mikel Arteta last season, finishing eighth in the Premier League and failing to qualify for Europe for the first time in 26 years.

The Gunners were also knocked out of the Europa League in the semi-finals by eventual winners Villarreal.

However, Arteta believes Arsenal are well-placed to bounce back next season and he has hinted at potential incomings this summer, saying: "Other teams are going to get better and they're going to strengthen, so we need to get better."

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a number of potential incomings and outgoings, and one of the names which has constantly been thrown around is Brighton and Hove Albion star Yves Bissouma.

Bissouma has been highly impressive under Graham Potter and Brighton have repeatedly stated that they will be willing to sell players if the price is right.

Bissouma was team-mates with current Arsenal stars Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Magalhaes during his stint at Lille and, according to football.london, he is still in regular contact with the duo.

He also has the same agent as Pepe and, should he complete a move to the Emirates this summer, he could partner Thomas Partey in the middle of the park.

In goal, Bernd Leno has been heavily linked with an exit and The Sun is reporting that Arsenal are considering a £20m swoop for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Right-back Hector Bellerin has also been linked with a move away and, according to CBS Sports, Norwich defender Max Aarons is being considered as a potential replacement.

Meanwhile, William Saliba is set to return from his loan spell at Nice and, after impressing, he could partner Gabriel at centre-back.

Although Arsenal are targeting a new left-back, they are only after cover for Kieran Tierney, who has unfortunately struggled with injuries.

A number 10 is also firmly on the agenda and the Gunners have already missed out on Emiliano Buendia, who joined Aston Villa.

According to the Athletic, Martin Odegaard is now set to stay at Real Madrid, meaning the Gunners have been forced to look at alternatives.

Football.london is reporting that Leicester star James Maddison is a target, with Arteta said to be a huge fan of the midfielder.

Youngsters Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe were shining lights last season and they could line up alongside Maddison in behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
