Wolves ace Raul Jiminez was slated by fans after he was sent off for picking up two bookings inside a minute during Saturday's Premier League clash with Manchester City.

The striker was booked for a foul on City midfielder Rodri before he stupidly attempted to block the resulting free-kick seconds later – leaving referee Jonathan Moss with little option but to give Jiminez his marching orders.

Jiminez's manager, Bruno Lage, was left raging on the touchline by the Mexican's moment of insanity.

The 30-year-old's stupid blunder left Wolves with the prospect of playing the second half against the champions with ten men.

And his actions left fans absolutely raging on social media.

One person tweeted: "Wtf was Jimenez doing absolutely crazy", before another added: "Wtf Raul Jimenez. That was so stupid from him."

Another reacted by posting: "That’s the best red card I’ve ever seen," after Jiminez had been given his marching orders.

Another person online poked fun at Jiminez's antics by tweeting: "Raul Jiminez has some Xmas shopping to do next weekend."

Jiminez's dismissal will see him miss the midweek round of fixtures where Wolves travel to Brighton.

The striker and his team-mates were left appealing to Moss to reverse the decision, with Jiminez not seeming to realise just what he'd done until he finally left the pitch.

After being jeered off by City fans, Jiminez shared a frosty handshake with Lage, who failed to hide his disappointment at his star striker's unforgivable gaffe.

Wolves had already been subjected to a first half onslaught from Pep Guardiola's team before Jiminez lost his head just before the interval.

Although City hadn't particularly gone close to breaking the deadlock at the Etihad, they had dominated proceedings, peppering the Wolves goal with seven attempts compared to the solitary one managed by the visitors.

City can open up a four-point lead at the summit of the Premier League if they can see off Wolves following Jiminez's dismissal.
