Jurgen Klopp fumed at an Amazon presenter and labelled him as ‘completely ignorant’ for making a tongue-in-cheek reference to Liverpool’s early kick-off time against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Victory over Sheffield United on Wednesday moved Liverpool to within two points of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, but Klopp was in no mood for jokes.
The Reds manager has previously bemoaned playing the first match of the weekend and took aim at Amazon Prime Sport presenter Marcus Buckland for making ‘disgraceful’ comments in his post-match interview.
Speaking on the pitch at Bramall Lane, Klopp was asked: ‘You’ve had to shuffle your pack you’ve got all these games in Europe and now you go to Crystal Palace – your favourite kick off time at the weekend.’
That queued the German up for an incredibly awkward exchange with him visibly annoyed as he sarcastically replied: ‘That’s great that’s really great to make a joke about that.’

Buckland professionally continued to try and smooth over the tense exchange with his line of questioning, adding: ‘You’ve still got the passion, you’ve still got the enjoyment. It’s constant day in day out.’
But, the Liverpool manager refused to settle and maintained his short mannered approach, responding: ‘Yeah now we go home I don’t know what time we arrive maybe one o’clock or two o’clock and then we play again we maybe have two sessions. Tomorrow and Friday.
‘It’s fine to recover and then we play again. Crystal Palace play again tonight so that’s fine. But I realise you don’t understand that as well even when you work in football so why should I try to explain it again.
‘If you make a joke of that then you’re completely ignorant. but it’s good football is entertainment. It’s all good.’
The presenter – who was accompanied by former Liverpool player Steve McManaman – then insisted he wasn’t trying to be ‘disrespectful’ and even apologised. Klopp was having none of it.

‘It’s just one of those issues that come up and I’m not trying to be disrespectful,’ said Buckland.
Klopp interjected: ‘You were already,’ with Buckland then adding: ‘Ok well I apologise Jurgen.’
He continued: ‘All good you can say what you want just because I cannot say what I want because that would be different.’
The Amazon presenter then rounded off the interview by wishing Liverpool success against Palace, with Klopp retaliating, adding: ‘You go tell crystal palace that as well. Thank you very much,’ before slamming down his microphone and storming away.
