Giorgio Chiellini’s agent has revealed Juventus have yet to discuss a new contract with the 37-year-old free agent.
The centre-back captained Italy to victory at Euro 2020 at the weekend, as Roberto Mancini’s men defeated England on penalties in the final.
But the 36-year-old’s contract at Serie A giants Juventus expired at the end of last month, and while agent Davide Lippi insists his client would have no issue taking his Juventus career into an 18th season, he insisted no discussions had taken place.

‘It takes two to sign a contract,’ Lippi told Radio Radio.
‘Giorgio went to the Euros and focused exclusively on that. There’s no problem with Juventus, we said we’d meet up later in the summer, but we haven’t yet sat down to discuss a renewal.’
Asked what would happen if another European giant made an offer for Chiellini, Lippi replied: ‘They’d have to make the offer first. As of today, there is nobody. We are waiting for Juventus to tell us when we can sit down and have a chat.’
Chiellini turns 37 next month and despite his impressive performances at Euro 2020 is coming towards the end of his playing career.
But Lippi praised his client for his ‘incredible’ recovery from a serious knee injury that kept him out from August 2019 until February last year, and insists the passion to continue playing still burns inside him.

‘Thinking of Chiellini away from the playing field at this moment is madness,’ Lippi added.
‘What he did after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament is incredible. What fuels him is passion and we saw in the Euros that the passion is still strong.
‘He was a symbol of Juventus for many years and we are waiting for a club. Nobody has called, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did, as he’s the only free agent in the Italy squad now.’
Chiellini has made a staggering 535 appearances for Juventus since joining the club from Livorno in 2004, scoring 36 goals in the process.
He has gone on to win nine Serie A titles and five Coppa Italias at the Allianz Stadium, as well as making 112 appearances for the Azzurri and netting eight goals for his country.
But Lippi insists the ‘passion is still strong’ in Chiellini and insists he won’t retire just yet
