Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard is reportedly 'upset' with Ralf Rangnick after he was denied a farewell appearance at Old Trafford in Monday night's 3-0 win over Brentford.

The 29-year-old – who was prevented from leaving United in January – is out of contract at the end of the season and is set to quit the club over a lack of first-team opportunities in recent years.

United wrapped up their home campaign with the comprehensive win over the Bees, but Lingard was an unused substitute on a night where the likes of Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Edinson Cavani were given the opportunity for one final hurrah at home.

And a new report from The Manchester Evening News has revealed Lingard was left 'dismayed' by Rangnick's decision to snub the chance to hand the United academy graduate a farewell cameo on Monday night.

Like Lingard, Mata and Cavani are also out of contract in the summer, while Matic has already confirmed his plans to quit Old Trafford at the end of the season. But Lingard – who has been at the club since he was seven-years-old – was the glaring omission from United's cluster of departing stars who were able to strut their stuff at the Theatre of Dreams one final time.

Rangnick and the club had already been blasted by the midfielder's brother, Louis, shortly after Monday night's game after Lingard had been denied his Old Trafford swansong.

In a scathing Instagram post, Lingard's brother wrote: “20 years of blood sweat and tears, 4 domestic trophies, 3 cup final goal, not even a farewell. No wonder it’s Conference League next year.

"Attacking players for celebrations when the clubs being sold to the super league ok. Class of 92, Busby Babes, you're ran by people who don't even know the offside trap.

“Classless and the fans need to realise. Goodnight, godbless! Been there since nine years of age and didn't even get a send off!!! Well done bro your family are proud."
