Mohamed Salah has reportedly told his close friends that he’s ‘tempted’ by a potential move to Saudi Arabia with Jurgen Klopp pleading with Liverpool owners FSG to stand firm on a second bid from Al Ittihad. Salah has emerged as the next big target for the Saudis and are prepared to pay him a staggering amount of money in the process.
The reported offer from Saudi Arabia would blow his £350,000-a-week contract with Liverpool out of the water. But the Reds are currently refusing to negotiate with Al Ittihad in regards to their interest in the Egyptian.
The Saudi Pro League side had a bid worth £150million rejected by Liverpool on Friday, just hours before the Premier League window closed. It’s since been reported that Al Ittihad will try again with another bid in excess of £175m to test Liverpool’s resolve.
And Liverpool may have a battle on their hands with Salah reportedly having his head turned by the money on offer in Saudi Arabia. According to the Sunday Mirror, Salah is ‘tempted’ by the idea of returning to the Middle East to be the ‘poster boy’ of the league.
He’s said to have spoken with his ‘close friends’ about the prospect of leaving Anfield for the Gulf state. Salah’s reported interest in a move to Saudi Arabia will come as a huge blow to Klopp, who is desperate to keep his star man.
With no chance now to bring in a replacement for Salah until the New Year, Liverpool want to avoid a situation where they’ll be left short. However, Klopp is reportedly wary that FSG would consider selling Salah if an offer they deemed too good to turn down was put on the table.

The German is said to have asked FSG to hold off until next summer before cashing in on Salah. But it’s suggested that Al Ittihad are ‘growing confident’ that Liverpool will accept an offer for Salah.
The Egyptian will reportedly be put on wages similar to Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Moving to Al Ittihad would also see Salah link back up with Fabinho, who left Liverpool earlier this summer.
Clubs all over Europe are wary of losing their star players to Saudi Arabia over the international break as their transfer window remains open for the next few weeks. It’s unclear exactly when the Saudi Pro League transfer window closes as the league’s website states the deadline is September 7, while FIFA lists the date as September 20.
