Liverpool are set to part ways with Ben Davies following his surprise switch from Preston North End back in February – with the defender not getting a single second on the pitch.
The 25-year-old had impressed in the Championship and got a shock move to the reigning Premier League champions following injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
With Ozan Kabak joining from Schalke the same day, the young Turkey international was favoured in partnerships with both Nate Phillips and Fabinho at the back.
With Van Dijk and Gomez now back in training and Rhys Williams progressing, the place for Davies has sadly disappeared, and he could now be on his way back down to the second tier.
The Sun have reported that the centre-back, who joined in a deal worth up to £1.6million, 'is wanted on loan by recently-relegated Sheffield United'.
The Blades are looking to push for promotion under former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic, and are eyeing experience at the back with Davies returning from an injury of his own.
Davies said after moving to Anfield: "I’ve never actually been to Anfield and I haven’t had a look around yet. I had a quick look out and had a look at the pitch and it looks like carpet, which obviously you’d expect.
"I haven’t actually walked out of the tunnel yet, so I’m looking forward to that. Just to be in this kind of atmosphere is brilliant."

Jurgen Klopp has said that both Van Dijk and Davies are looking good, with the England defender speaking to the media of his return to fitness.
He said: "Getting back on the pitch with the boys meant everything.
"Obviously after such a long layoff, it’s not a case of just being thrown in the deep end, we’ll probably have to do some adaptations, the likes of myself and Virgil.
