Liverpool’s Thiago would ‘welcome’ Barcelona return in reunion with Xavi

New Barcelona boss Xavi is open for a Catalan return for Liverpool playmaker Thiago Alcantara.

Xavi arrived at the Nou Camp after Barcelona dismissed Ronald Koeman earlier this month following a poor run of results for the Blaugrana.

Thiago came through the famed La Masia academy before he had his professional debut for Barcelona in 2008, where he played alongside Xavi and was seen as a 'generational talent'.

However, Thiago was moved onto Bayern Munich, where he spent seven years before making the switch to Merseyside.

But according to Spanish-outlet Sport, Thiago could be set to return to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona have already seen one high-profile return to the club since Xavi's arrival as manager.

Dani Alves agreed to return to Barcelona for a reported salary of €1-per-month due to the club's ongoing financial crisis.

Alves left the club in 2017 via mutual consent, and he looked set to reunite with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, but the Brazilian ended up signing at PSG.

But Alves and Thiago may not be the only returns to Catalonia, and reports suggest that Lionel Messi is eyeing a move back to the Camp Nou.

Thiago has struggled for game time this season due to a calf injury.

However, Barcelona will have to break the bank to sign the midfielder, as it's believed that Jurgen Klopp is in no rush to part with his Spanish star.
