- Barca are in the market for a replacement for their ageing Uruguayan striker
- The Catalan club may have to see off competition from Madrid for his signing
Luis Suaraz has revealed he would welcome the arrival of Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona as the Uruguayan front man insisted the squad is in need of fresh blood.
The Catalan giants have been on the lookout for attacking reinforcement since the injuries of Suarez and Ousmane Dembele and came to land Martin Braithwaite after being granted the ability to sign a player outside of the transfer window.
But there are growing concerns that the club needs to think long term with Suarez coming towards the end of his peak years at Barcelona. The former Liverpool man turned 33 last month and there is an acceptance that the club needs to plan for his eventual departure.

Inter are in a strong position to get the fee they desire with Martinez’s current deal at the San Siro expiring in June 2023 having signed a five-year deal in 2018 when he joined from Racing Club.
