Man City slap asking price on Raheem Sterling as Barcelona circle England star

Premier League champions Manchester City have slapped their asking price on Raheem Sterling with Barcelona waiting in the wings to pounce for the England star.

The Catalan club aren't strangers to shopping in Manchester having already pinched Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero from the Citizens at the end of last season.

However, the problem for Ronald Koeman is a lack of funds. Barca are in financial turmoil with reports that the club is in more than €1.35bn (£1.15bn) of debt.

Sitting seventh in La Liga though, the five-time Champions League winners are in desperate need of adding some quality to a bereft frontline.

One man eyed by the Barcelona hierarchy is Man City winger Raheem Sterling.

The 26-year-old has featured in every Premier League match for Pep Guardiola's side so far this season, but only completed 90 minutes in two of them.

Spanish outlet Marca allege the Citizens would be open to selling Sterling should the club receive the right offer with €80m (£67.6m) slapped on the head of their no.7.

With his current deal not running out until 2023, the City board can afford to play hardball with a club that has already stifled them out of two of their prized assets.

Barcelona know there will be no discounts on Sterling having had to wait nine months to sign Garcia.

Their measly £15.4m offer for the young defender was rejected last October before he signed on a free transfer in the summer.

The report states that should Barca fail in their pursuit of Sterling then they will move onto RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo.

The 23-year-old spent seven years in La Masia before joining Dinamo Zagreb aged 16 and would cost the Catalan giants €50m (£42.3m).
