Everton will create hostile atmosphere ahead of Man Utd clash | Football Digest
Manchester United could look to bring a handful of former Liverpool players to Old Trafford if Michael Edwards is appointed to oversee their transfer business. The Red Devils are set to make a number of changes at boardroom level in the near future as Sir Jim Ratcliffe prepares to buy a 25 per cent stake in the club.
It has already been confirmed that Richard Arnold will be stepping down from his role of CEO at the end of this year, with Patrick Stewart poised to replace him on an interim basis. There have also been questions over the long-term future of football director John Murtough, which could open the door for Edwards to come in and work his magic.
Ratcliffe is keen on bringing Edwards to Old Trafford after being left impressed by his stint in charge of transfers at Liverpool, according to The Independent. It remains to be seen whether Edwards will target any of his former signings if he ends up joining United, who could be set to reap the benefits of having the 44-year-old in their corner.

Sadio Mane
United were heavily linked with Mane during his spell at Southampton before Liverpool swooped in to secure his signature for themselves in 2016. He went on to become one of the Premier League’s best players, winning every available trophy with the Reds before leaving for Bayern Munich last year.
Now plying his trade alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, Mane would still have plenty to offer at United if he can be tempted to reunite with Edwards at Old Trafford. However, his status as a Liverpool hero could prove to be an issue when it comes to potentially joining his former club’s arch rivals.
Dominic Solanke
United are desperate for some extra firepower in front of goal after scoring just 13 times in 12 league matches so far this season. Edwards could look to land Solanke as a potential stop-gap solution in January, with the former Reds man having netted seven times in all competitions for Bournemouth.

Solanke failed to hit the ground running at Liverpool but was clearly rated by Edwards when the Merseyside giants signed him from Chelsea in 2017. They went on to make a tidy profit on his departure, with the move also proving beneficial for the striker himself by allowing him to hone his skills at the Vitality Stadium.
Marko Grujic
Grujic never made the grade at Anfield but has developed into a handy midfielder since joining Porto on a permanent basis three years ago. He missed a large chunk of games earlier this season due to an injury but has since recovered and will be looking to feature on a regular basis from now on.
The 27-year-old is another player Edwards knows well and has already been linked with United, who were credited with an interest in him over the summer. They made an initial approach for his signature back in March, according to Telegraf, but it was said that his Liverpool connections would make it difficult for the Red Devils to convince him to join their ranks.
