Man Utd fans worry for Champions League progress as Dalot replaces Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United fans are worried about their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League with Diogo Dalot replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The Portuguese full-back came in to the side for the match with Villarreal in place of the suspended Wan-Bissaka who has been banned for two matches by UEFA.

Wan-Bissaka has been punished for his sending off in the opening match against Young Boys and will also miss the home match with Atalanta as well as tonight's game.

This has left United fans concerned as they watched Dalot struggle to deal with Arnaut Danjuma in the first half on Wednesday.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Dalot is getting hosed, for the love of god play like you want to win it.”

Another could not ignore Dalot's performance as they stated: “Really bad showing so far, Dalot is getting smoked.”

A third supporter simply tweeted: “Dalot is playing horrible… Just atrocious.”

Dalot, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan, was struggling to cope with the pace and endeavour of former Bournemouth winger Danjuma.

The Dutchman joined Villarreal from the Cherries for £21million in the summer and his impressive start in Spain has caught the eye with Liverpool reportedly interested.

United fans continued to comment on Dalot's woes as he deputised for Wan-Bissaka as one wrote: “Dalot is killing the defence! I’m really feeling Wan-Bissaka’s absence.”

While another fan called for his withdrawal as they tweeted: “Please take Dalot off the pitch, nobody wants to witness a man getting his pants pulled down live on TV.”

Wednesday's match is Dalot's fifth appearance of the season as he has struggled for game time since returning to Old Trafford and he will have to improve quickly ahead of next month's crucial tie with Atalanta.
