Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s career as Manchester United manager is hanging by a thread following recent reports of dressing room woes, tactical ineptness and of course the 5-0 home loss to arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday. And it has now emerged that there is yet another disparity in the ranks at Old Trafford, this time in the striking department – as Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood are showing a severe lack of cohesion despite being United’s main two attackers.

A report by ESPN states that Ronaldo’s inability to link up with Greenwood is completely down to Solskjaer and his failure to find a way in getting the pair to work together.

Team-mates have reportedly noticed the duo not being on the same wave length on the pitch, and now Ronaldo is becoming rather annoyed at Greenwood’s decisions to shoot rather than pass to him.

Greenwood is a natural striker who plays on the right-flank for United ahead of Jadon Sancho, who is a natural winger – which is likely a huge reason as to his apparent greed in front of goal.

And with Ronaldo having had Karim Benzema and Paulo Dybala alongside him whilst at Real Madrid and Juventus, players happy to play secondary roles to the Portuguese, he is seemingly struggling with a new dynamic.

However, this is something Solskjaer must notice and improve upon if he is to excel as United manager and compete with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

The Red Devils are already eight points behind Thomas Tuchel’s side after just nine games despite a solid start to the league campaign.

And with a run of fixtures on the horizon that includes Chelsea, City and Tottenham, there must be a quick change for United if they are to come away with any points.

The report goes on to say that the senior players in United’s ranks are wanting more technical direction from their boss.

Although Solskjaer is not an unpopular figure such as former boss Jose Mourinho, there is a feeling that the ex-Cardiff boss doesn’t have tactical credentials to match the best bosses in the league.

Managers such as Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Tuchel are highly thought of throughout the league, and their successes across the sport detail just how much of a disparity there is in experience when Solskjaer is compared to them.

And with the Norwegian yet to win a trophy at Old Trafford, there is a growing sense of frustration.

The Portugal star returned to Old Trafford after a 12-year hiatus since his £80million move to Real Madrid in 2009.

And with a new manager, Ronaldo could flourish in helping the club win more silverware.
