Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti could be on his way back to the Premier League – amid reports Manchester United have already lodged an offer to employ the Italian.
Incumbent Erik ten Hag has struggled to improve results at Old Trafford so far this season, with United sat sixth in the table and their Champions League fate hanging in the balance. The Red Devils have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup following a 3-0 dismantling at home to Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti is in the final months of what could be his final contract with Los Blancos, with reports repeatedly linking him with a move to take over Brazil's national team next summer. However, it seems United may be intent on blocking that move with a bid of their own to take 'Don Carlo' back to English shores.

That's according to Spanish journalist Juanma Castano, who made the claim during a recent appearance on radio show Tiempo de Juego on Cope (via Daily Express). Four-time Champions League-winning coach Ancelotti, 64, previously led Chelsea to a league and FA Cup double in 2010 before later guiding Everton to back-to-back mid-table finishes.
And Castano went on to highlight two players at Carrington who would be particularly pleased by that appointment. It may come as no surprise to hear Casemiro mentioned in that regard, having won two Champions League titles, one league medal and one Copa del Rey under his tutelage.

However, man-of-the-moment Alejandro Garnacho may be a less obvious as the other pleased party, who is said to be a 'huge admirer' of Ancelotti. It was a minor shock to not hear Raphael Varane listed as a third given he too teamed up with Ancelotti to good effect in the past, though if rumours are to be believed, the Frenchman may not last beyond next summer at United.

Contrasting reports in Spain have indicated Ancelotti is eager to extend his stay at the Bernabeu despite not yet entering talks with Real. On the other hand, others have insisted his move to Brazil is a done deal and that's he's expected to link up with the Selecao for the 2024 Copa America.
For his part, Ancelotti recently said his 'future will soon be known' as one of football's all-time great tacticians approaches his latest crossroads. But it appears United – who are set to welcome investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe as their new conductor – have a mighty task ahead of them in luring him back to the Premier League.
