Manchester United will launch a bid for Raphael Varane once he comes back from his holidays, it has been claimed. The Real Madrid star is a top target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. And football director John Murtough is currently working on a deal, 10 years after Sir Alex Ferguson first missed out.
Manchester United have sealed two transfers already this summer, in Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton.
And they now want Varane to follow the pair to Old Trafford, with Solskjaer hunting an upgrade on the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.
United have long admired the France international, with Ferguson first attempting to bring him to the club back in the summer transfer window of 2011.
Now, Solskjaer is hoping to succeed where his mentor failed.
And journalist Fabrizio Romano, speaking on Twitch, has claimed United will wait until Varane is back from his summer holidays before launching a bid.

It’s claimed they’re waiting on Real Madrid to decide on a fixed price, amid claims they’ll look for a fee in the region of £45million to part ways with their prized asset.
And it seems as though United are prepared to play a hesitating game before going after the 28-year-old with everything they have.
Part of the reason for their hesitance may stem from the Sergio Ramos debacle of 2015.
Ramos gave United all the signs they wanted that they could sign him from Los Blancos, with the player looking destined to leave at the time.
However, in the end, the Spain international used the Red Devils in order to sign a bumper new deal over at the Bernabeu.

United don’t want Varane to be their last summer signing, either.
They’re also keen on signing a new right-back amid interest in Kieran Trippier.
Trippier was part of the England squad that came agonisingly close to winning Euro 2020 but Atletico Madrid are adamant he won’t be allowed to leave Spain this summer.
United are also hoping to add to their midfield ranks, too.
Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek have both been linked with moves away, while Nemanja Matic is entering the twilight years of his career.
Presently, Eduardo Camavinga is wanted.
But United are also big fans of West Ham star Declan Rice, despite the Hammers slapping a £100million price tag on their prized asset.
Speaking recently, meanwhile, Luke Chadwick endorsed his former side’s interest in Varane.
“If you could pick any centre half in the world to go and partner Harry Maguire it would be Varane,” Chadwick told CaughtOffside.
“He’s an absolute Rolls Royce of a player, you don’t win the amount of trophies he’s had without an incredible mentality.
“With Ramos leaving as well, Paris Saint-Germain seem to be showing an interest in both of those players, but in terms of what United need at this time, Varane would be a dream signing if they could get that over the line.
“PSG can offer more in terms of wages, but Varane’s another player who’s never played in the Premier League, so it depends if it’s the financial incentive or that playing opportunity that means more to him.”
United have never spent more than £150m on transfers in a single window under the Glazers.
But with the Americans keen to mend relations with fans following their failed European Super League plot, that could be set to change.
