Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly had a late-night meeting with PSG sporting director Leonardo, amid rumours linking him with the Manchester United job. Pochettino appears to be one of the key favourites to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager has been regularly linked with the managerial position on the red half of Manchester.

Many reports have claimed he would be very interested in a return back to the Premier League.

And he will be in Manchester, ahead of PSG’s tumultuous battle against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

However, reports from L’Equipe have claimed PSG sporting director Leonardo travelled to the hotel Pochettino has been living in for showdown talks.

It has been claimed by the French outlet one of Leonardo’s motivations for meeting the former Southampton manager was to ‘gauge his desires to leave’ and try and ‘take the pulse out of the situation’.

Leonardo’s visit to the Argentine is a curious development, as it is also reported by L’Equipe the Brazilian may be one of the reasons why Pochettino may be unsettled.

Current Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is also understood to have fallen out with the PSG supremo, before he departed the Parc des Princes last year.

However, Pochettino’s situation is currently different to that of the German’s, as he went out of his way to clarify is current happiness at the club.

Their 4-1 away defeat to Watford proved to be an embarrassment too far, as the Norwegian was dismissed the next day.
