Jurgen Klopp dismisses Mohamed Salah transfer talk
Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam believes Al-Ittihad’s proposed move for Mohamed Salah is a tactic to disrupt the Reds dressing room before their clash with Newcastle United on Sunday. Al-Ittihad are understood to have approached Liverpool about signing Salah but the Merseyside club are not prepared to let their star man go.
Spanish media outlet Relevo claims that the reigning Saudi Pro League champions are willing to offer Salah a deal that would make him the highest-paid player in the world. The report also goes on to add that the Egyptian winger intends to accept the offer after his entourage met with officials in Dubai where the proposition was officially laid out.
Though Liverpool have since sent a hands-off warning to any potential suitors. Al-Ittihad is financed by the the Public Investment Fund (PIF), a consortium run by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, which also holds large shares in Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal and Newcastle.
Due to Al-Ittihad and Newcastle’s close ties, Adam senses that there may be foul play afoot. Speaking on the talkSPORT Breakfast show about Salah’s potential move, he said: “I don’t believe he will go. They are playing Newcastle this weekend, there is a bit of the Saudi-backed Newcastle situation.
The 23/24 home shirt for Liverpool pays homage to the past of the club, as well as collaborator Nike, with a strong 1970s influence. The iconic red, capped with bold white cuffs and collar really does invoke that classic Liverpool FC style while adding a cool retro touch
“Maybe that’s something – they’re just trying to ignite the flame before the match and try to unsettle Salah. They know that Jurgen Klopp, all of the questions he’s going to get today in his press conference will be about Salah and Saudi Arabia.
“And it’s maybe a bit of mind games as well, I was reading reports that this club were confident they were going to get Mo Salah. I don’t believe it’s going to be anywhere close, I don’t believe Liverpool will sell him Is [Kylian] Mbappe the one that can replace him? I don’t think that Liverpool will be interested in selling Mo Salah – especially in this window.”

He added: “With a week to go in the English market, it’s going to be very difficult to replace Mo Salah, so maybe next season might be different. But I still don’t believe he will go, I think he’s happy at Liverpool, but these numbers that are being talked about, the club have also got to look at the business side as well.”
Salah still has two years remaining on his deal at Anfield and is “fully committed” to Liverpool, according to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
