Newcastle United could launch an outlandish attempt to sign Ousmane Dembele, with the two parties apparently already in contact with one another. The Barcelona winger is out of contract next summer and the Catalonians could look to cash in on him in January.
Dembele joined Barca from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for a mouthwatering fee of £135.5million.
But the Frenchman’s career in Spain has been curtailed by a series of long-term injuries.
Dembele has suffered with a recurring hamstring problem and hasn’t played this season after undergoing a knee operation in the summer.
The 24-year-old has now been given the green light to return to action, however, and could pull on the Barca shirt when his side travel to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday evening.
Boss Ronald Koeman needs all the help he can get after seeing his team lose once again on Sunday as they were defeated by Real Madrid in El Clasico. And Dembele could be the man to fire the Catalonians to glory.

The club are hopeful that the talented youngster will put pen to paper on a new deal to remain at the Nou Camp.
But, according to Spanish publication Sport, Dembele’s agent has spoken to Newcastle and the player could now push for a move to the Premier League.
Newcastle’s takeover was completed nearly three weeks ago as a Saudi-led consortium bought the club from Mike Ashley for £305million.
The new owners are expected to spend big and build a formidable squad as they look to compete in the higher echelons of the Premier League.
And Dembele is one of several superstar names being linked with a move to St James’ Park.

Newcastle will first need to appoint a new manager after axing former boss Steve Bruce last week.
Bruce was given his marching orders after just over two years at the helm and departed with the Magpies facing a relegation battle.
Newcastle are yet to win this season but managed to hold Crystal Palace to a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park at the weekend.
The north east club are three points from safety but will be looking to turn their season around in the coming months courtesy of huge investment on the pitch.
If Dembele does opt for a move to England, Newcastle could land him for a bargain fee, with Barca unlikely to want to risk losing him for free at the end of the campaign.
And the player could well light up St James’ Park if he can stay fit thanks to his silky skills and pace.
Dembele has 27 caps for France and was part of the squad which lifted the World Cup in 2018 – so Newcastle will surely want to do all they can to persuade the player to sign on the dotted line.
