PSG are set to refrain from rescinding Sergio Ramos’ contract after the defender is finally set to return to training next week. The Spanish defender joined the French giants in the summer following the expiration of his contract at Real Madrid.

But Ramos is still yet to make his debut for the club, after being out injured with a calf injury for the past three months.

And according to French outlet Le Parisien, PSG were considering whether to terminate Ramos’ contract as a result of his ongoing injury problems.

But news of his return to training may have delayed the club in making a decision as he seeks to prove his fitness.

Had PSG decided to terminate Ramos’ contract, then they would have had to come to a settlement agreement with the 35-year-old.

Ramos will reportedly earn a staggering €24million (£20m) over the course of his two-year contract with the club.

Although Ramos is due to return to training, he will not be in line to make his long-awaited debut until the back of November.

PSG’s Ligue 1 clash against Nantes on November 20 is being touted as the potential return date, but it is not yet clear whether Ramos will be fit in time.

The French giants will then take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side at the Etihad Stadium four days later in the Champions League, and they will hoping to have Ramos available for selection.

Ramos was one of several household names to arrive at the Parc des Princes in the summer transfer window, as the club bid to win their first-ever Champions League crown.

Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Georginio Wijnaldum all arrived in Paris on a free following the expiration of their contract with their respective clubs.

PSG also beat Chelsea to the signing of highly-rated wing-back Achraf Hakimi from Inter in a move worth £60m.

Pochettino’s side slipped up in midweek when they could only manage a 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Christopher Nkunku gave Leipzig the lead, before two goals from Wijnaldum gave PSG the lead going into half-time.

And it looked as though PSG were going to come away from Germany with all three points until Dominik Szoboszlai equalised from the penalty spot in the third minute of injury time.

PSG will now switch their focus back to Ligue 1 where they will meet Bordeaux on Saturday at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique.

Pochettino’s side are currently seven points clear of second place Lens at the top of the league, having played a game less.
