Puskas winner found already? Watch Jordan Flores’ incredible volley for Dundalk

Jordan Flores is being tipped to win the coveted Puskas Award this season after his wonder strike for Dundalk on Friday night.

The midfielder connected with Michael Duffy's corner with an unstoppable volley which flew into the top corner of the net.

Technique-wise you will not see a better strike all season as his left-footed effort gave the keeper no chance.

The goal came midway through the first half of his team’s 3-2 defeat to Shamrock Rovers in the League of Ireland clash.

Slow-motion replays show the incredible way Flores angles his body to get on top of the ball and guide the ball into the net at pace.

The former Wigan and Blackpool player’s strike has gone viral on social media with all four corners of the globe wanting a look.

Indeed, it was so good that the official FIFA Twitter account quickly declared the goal as a potential Puskas Award candidate.

The gong goes to most aesthetically significant, or ‘most beautiful’, goal in a calendar year.

The award is in honour of Ferenc Puskas, the striker of Real Madrid during the late 1950s and the 1960s, and central member of the highly successful Hungarian side of the same era.

Puskas is widely considered by many to be the most powerful and prolific forward European football produced in first-division football, and scored a once world record of 84 goals in 85 internationals.

He is one of the top scorers of the 20th century, with 512 goals in 528 matches.
