Rangers have identified Frank Lampard, Sean Dyche and Giovanni van Bronckhorst as potential replacements for Steven Gerrard, reports claim. Ibrox chiefs have now been tasked with finding the right man to succeed their former boss, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Aston Villa after receiving an approach earlier this week.
Gerrard has barely had time to say goodbye to his players due to the international break as he departs the club after over three seasons in charge in Glasgow.
The former Liverpool midfielder guided the ‘Gers to their 55th title last season, ending nine years of Celtic dominance.
Now Rangers are looking to get his replacement through the door fast and according to The Times, Lampard, Dyche and former defender Van Bronckhorst top the shortlist.
Lampard was understood to be interested in the opening at Villa before the Midlands club swooped to pinch Gerrard.
The former Chelsea boss held talks with Norwich earlier this week following the shock sacking of Daniel Farke.
It’s currently unclear whether Lampard or Norwich are fully committed to the appointment with Dean Smith also under consideration.
Although talkSPORT are now reporting that Lampard is set to take over at Carrow Road.
Meanwhile, Dyche just recently signed a long-term contract extension with Burnley as he continues to preserve the Clarets’ top-flight status.
Van Bronckhorst boasts an impressive resume having won the Eredivisie with former club Feyenoord before heading to China to coach Guangzhou R&F in 2019.

He has been out of work since but of course played for Rangers between 1998 and 2001, something that could give him the upper hand should he express interest in the role.
Other candidates include Frank de Boer and Derek McInnes while Swansea’s Russell Martin is also reportedly under consideration.
The former Norwich captain has not long joined Swansea after he was prised away from MK Dons earlier this summer but his style of football continues to enhance his reputation as a young manager.
New Villa boss Gerrard has taken to Instagram to address the Rangers faithful after breaking many hearts with his move back south of the border.
