Ronaldinho has vowed that former teammate Xavi will improve Barcelona because he is “a great coach.”
Xavi, 41, was unveiled as Barcelona manager earlier this month, taking charge of his boyhood club where he made a record-breaking 767 appearances as a player.
He succeeds Ronald Koeman but faces a tough challenge with the side struggling for results this season without legendary talisman Lionel Messi.
But despite his limited experience in having only managed Qatari club Al Sadd previously, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho believes his former Blaugrana teammate has the required skills to get the club back on track.
Talking exclusively to his new official app, Ronaldinho said: "I think he will improve Barcelona because he's a great coach.
“As a player, we've all seen his football, and as a coach he's been very good.
“I hope things are good for him, and I hope that Barça will be there at the top again after a great year. All of us who love Barcelona hope so."
Ronaldinho shared the field with Xavi for five seasons at the Camp Nou between 2003 and 2005, where they won two La Liga titles and a Champions League trophy together.

The mesmerising Ronaldinho netted 33 times in 97 appearances for the Catalan side, with the two players famously combining for the Brazilian’s stunning overhead kick against Villarreal in 2004.
Xavi, like his idol and former manager Pep Guardiola, was known for possessing one of the great footballing IQs in the game as a player.
That is something he will hope will instantly translate to getting results in order to get Barcelona back in the top three in La Liga.
His first challenge will be winning the derby against Espanyol at the Camp Nou on Saturday.
