Smith admits League Cup win may not be enough to keep Man Utd target Grealish

Dean Smith admits Aston Villa face a huge battle to keep Manchester United target Jack Grealish even if they win the League Cup and get into Europe.

Villa captain Grealish will lead his boyhood club out at Wembley on Sunday in the Carabao Cup final against holders Manchester City .

The attacking ace has been on fire this term with nine goals and six assists in all competitions for the Premier League strugglers.

It has sparked interest from United who are poised to slap in a massive summer bid for £60,000-a-week ace Grealish, 24, who Villa insist doesn't have a buy-out clause.

If Villa are relegated Grealish is certain to go but boss Smith knows they face a huge battle even if they beat the drop and shock City tomorrow.

Asked if winning at Wembley could help keep Grealish, Smith replied: “I don't know. That is a question we will have to answer in the summer.

“Obviously staying in this league is probably one of the biggest things that will help us to keep Jack Grealish. He wants to play at the highest level and win trophies.
