A supercomputer has predicted the how the Premier League table will look at the end of the 2021-22 season – and it's bad news for Arsenal fans.
The Gunners have started the season with back-to-back 2-0 defeats to Brentford and Chelsea and find themselves 19th in the table, above only Norwich.
Mikel Arteta is pleading for patience, but things look certain to get worse before they get better with a daunting trip to champions Manchester City next up for Arsenal on Saturday.
A big defeat at the Etihad could see the north Londoners drop to the bottom of the pile, and a supercomputer doesn't think things will get much better from there.
FiveThirtyEight have used statistics to create a table that shows what the Premier League should look like at the end of the 2021-22 season.
According to the predicted standings, Manchester City will retain their title, but only just.
Pep Guardiola's side will achieve 80 points – putting them three clear of Chelsea and Liverpool in third and fourth.
Manchester United have been slated to finish fourth on 69 points, while Spurs and West Ham make up the Europa League spots.
Where do you think Arsenal will finish in the Premier League this season? Let us know in the comments section.
Arsenal missed out on European football this season after finishing eighth last term – and the supercomputer is predicting the same thing to happen again come May.
Arteta's side will finish behind Brighton on 54 points according to FiveThirtyEight, in what would amount to another disappointing season if the predictions are correct.
Such a lowly finish would almost certainly mean the end of the road for the Spaniard, who is under mounting pressure after a dismal start to the campaign.
Elsewhere, Leicester City and Everton will round out the top ten, with Aston Villa, Leeds and Wolves following close behind.
Brentford are expected to fare best of the newly-promoted teams in 14th, while Southampton, Newcastle and Burnley are all predicted to avoid relegation.
There's bad news for Norwich, Watford and Crystal Palace, all of whom are forecast to drop out of the Premier League according to the supercomputer's formula.
