Tottenham will sign Emerson Royal from Barcelona today, it has been claimed. The Barcelona star has been deemed surplus to requirements over at the Nou Camp. And Real Betis are poised to pocket some cash from any deal.

Tottenham have had a strong transfer window so far.

But they also want to sign a full-back to provide competition for the likes of Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty, who have both struggled for consistency.

And, now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed Tottenham are poised to land Emerson with an announcement expected later today.

“Emerson Royal from Barcelona to Tottenham, done deal and here-we-go confirmed,” he said on Twitter.

“€30m add ons included from Spurs, paperworks completed during the night. #THFC

“Official announcement today after medicals. Contract until June 2026.

“Real Betis receive €5m from the deal.”

Tottenham are now looking to find a club for Aurier, who has blown hot and cold ever since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain.

Genoa have shown interest in the France international at the current time of writing.

But with the clock winding down, whether they’re able to bring him to the club remains to be seen.

Aurier previously declared that he will not be signing a contract extension at Spurs and hinted at his preference for a return to Paris Saint-Germain, the club he left back in 2017.

Keita agent calls out Liverpool boss Klopp

“Everyone knows that if I wanted to extend my contract at Tottenham, I’d have already done so,” the defender told L’Equipe in May.

“I’m not going to do that in six months’ time. I’ve experienced the Premier League and a Champions League final. I’ve reached the end of a cycle and it’s time to look elsewhere.

“Both parties, the board and my agents are in agreement in terms of the conditions, so we will see.

“I’ve never hidden my desire to go back to PSG one day. It’s my boyhood club and I’m still a PSG supporter, so I feel free to talk about it.

“But I don’t want people to think I’m just issuing a come-and-get-me plea and I’m not closing the door on anyone.”

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was recently coy on the possibility of more signings.

“As long as it is open anything can happen,” he said.

“We have to be aware of the situations of all the team, the window is going to close on Tuesday, until then let’s see.”

And the Tottenham manager also revealed he was delighted with the club’s start to the season, having seen them win their opening three matches.

“We are working well, we started the season with an idea of trying to first of all build a squad that is competitive and we are achieving that,” he added.

“The players who came in are settling down many things that happened in the past now we move forward and we will continue this way.

“Our natural expectation is to improve game by game and that starts on a daily process.

“Prepare ourselves, train well and compete.”
