West Ham fans joke Paqueta has a ‘foot like a traction engine’ after wondergoal

West Ham fans have joked that Lucas Paqueta has a 'foot like a traction engine' after he blasted the ball past a hapless Alexandros Paschalakis in the Olympiacos goal.

The Hammers were below par for their trip to Piraeus, but the Brazilian was able to rekindle some hope in the final minutes. After the Greek giants failed to clear the ball, it fell to Paqueta.

And Paqueta let fly with a thunderbolt of a strike, that left fans joking he has a 'foot like a traction engine' – from the famous Alan Partridge football commentary clip.

West Ham tasted defeat for the first time in 17 European games on Thursday after Olympiacos raced into a two-goal in the first-half. Paqueta's late strike wasn't enough for the Hammers to draw level, and they were handed defeat for the first time since Frankfurt dumped them out of the 21/22 edition.

On the other hand, it was the Greek sides first win against English opposition for five years.

The Hammers remain top of their group – but they now only top German side SC Freiburg thanks to their win on the first matchday.
