Wimbledon Final RECAP: Djokovic lands sixth title to equal Grand Slam record

Novak Djokovic came from a set behind to beat Matteo Berretini and land a record equalling 20th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon this afternoon.

The Serbian, who has already been victorious at SW19 on five occasions, fought back to win 6-7 6-4 6-4 6-3 to be crowned champion at SW19 for a sixth time and a third in succession.

Djokovic's victory means he has now matched the Grand Slam hauls of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, making it a three-way tie at the top.

Berrettini arrived at Wimbledon having just won at Queens and had the roar of the Wimbledon crowd behind him as he took the lead after a first set tie break.

But he could not hold off the impressive Djokovic, who eventually wore down his opponent to reign supreme once again.

Djokovic aiming for more

"It was more than a battle. Congratulations to Matteo and his team for a fantastic tournament.

"I know it's not the best feeling losing in the final but I'm sure there is a great career ahead of you.

"Winning Wimbledon was always the biggest dream of mine when I was a kid.

"How special this is, and I know not to take this for granted This is a huge honour and priveledge. Standing with a sixth Wimbledon, it's incredible."

On going level with Federer and Nadal

Berretini gets deserved ovation as he picks up his runners-up plate. What an effort from the Italian.

He gave Djokovic a real challenge early on, taking the first set and putting up a huge fight.

But eventually he succumbed to his opponents brilliance, as Djokovic collects the Wimbledon trophy again.

He was not going to be tricked by Berretini's backhand down the line this time, and the pressure seems to be getting to the Italian as he overhit his return again.

Berretini goes two points ahead, only for Djokovic to battle back with a monster effort and a pinpoint shot at the net.

The Italian then finds the net before overhitting his return to level things up in the set.

The Italian holds firm to move one game ahead again as he now looks to break Djokovic.

Djokovic looked to be finding his groove but Berretini still edged ahead in the fourth set.

It was of course, only momentary however, as the Serbian soon pulled himself back level in games with his opponent next to serve.

He does take issue with the umpire early on in the game after a let is called.

The fans boo, but I don't think it'll bother him too much.

The Serbian wins the third set and now leads Berrettini 2-1.

Djokovic forces the mistake from his opponent, who sends it long at 40-30.

Cries of "football's coming home" at the end of the set – Berrettini won't be happy with that.

He's already got enough on his hands trying to win this final.

Following a big point earlier in the set Djokovic appeared to turn to the crowd and say: "I can't hear you"
